The Manchester Monarchs, the chief minor league affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, signed left wing Colton Yellow Horn to a professional tryout agreement on Thursday, reports www.mayorsmanor.com.
Yellow Horn had been playing with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL, where he currently leads the league with 58 points (36 goals, 22 assists) in 48 games this season. The 5-foot-9, 190 pound native of Alberta, Canada has spent parts of three seasons in the ECHL playing with the Reign, Stockton Thunder, and Elmira Jackals. The call-up to Manchester will be Yellow Horn's first career stint in the AHL (American Hockey league).
Besides having a unique name sewn onto the back of his jersey, the undrafted 25-year-old added an incredible shootout goal to his resume in 2012. The flashy shootout goal, shown below, was scored in a 4-3 win over the San Francisco Bulls this past December, while Yellow Horn was still a member of the Reign.
